Skin Cancer – Know It Better
Cancer still is a cruel truth of today’s life. The most common ones nowadays are lung cancer and skin cancer. Both these types of cancers are almost lifestyle based.
Skin cancer is an unusual growth of skin cells, which is the result of skin exposure to the sun. Not to say that it can also crop up on the parts of the body which is not exposed to sun light too. Skin cancer can fall into any of these three categories – Basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. The first two types of mentioned skin cancers can be treated if detected during early stages, but melanoma is graver. It can easily spread over to other tissues of the human body and is mainly the serious one. Staying away from ultraviolet rays and radiation could avoid skin cancer, but being vigilant to any and/or all types of skin changes is also required.
Small types of irregularities on skin (pimple, scar, blemish, sunspots or pigmentation) should be considered seriously, as it can be sign of skin cancer. It’s quite difficult to say that what does skin cancer looks like, because it depends on various factors i.e. phase, significance, body type, cancer type and location. Depending on general physical condition and daily life, the skin cancer can appear different for individuals. The best option thus left, is to consult the dermatologist, in case of any sort of skin abnormalities.
Thus, now we know that there are no particular symptoms for skin cancer, as the same varies extensively for different people. But, it can mainly occur on part of the skin that is exposed to sun directly i.e. the neck, hands, ears, arms, face, lips, and scalp.
Basal cell carcinoma is the most general one and can be easily treated. Squamous cell carcinoma can be easily treated if detected during its early phase.
